 alley Waldorf School Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School is pleased to host a 
 two-week dance and drumming residency led by Ugandan artist and educator G
 odfrey Opio. This immersive experience will introduce students of all grad
 es to traditional rhythms\, movement\, and songs from Uganda\, alongside d
 rumming practices that include instruments such as the djembe\, a hand dru
 m originating in West Africa. Through participatory music-making and dance
 \, students will explore rhythm as a foundation for learning\, coordinatio
 n\, and community building. The residency offers an embodied cultural expe
 rience that supports artistic development\, listening skills\, and cross-c
 ultural understanding in an age-appropriate and engaging way. This residen
 cy reflects our commitment to experiential arts education and to honoring 
 global traditions through movement\, music\, and shared creative expressio
 n.
